Burgas continues to top the list as the best place to live in Bulgaria. Spend a few hours strolling along the magnificent Sea Gardens, relaxing on the Central Beach and browsing the shops along the pedestrianised city centre. Then finish with a fresh fish dinner at one of the many outdoor restaurants. It's the fourth largest city in Bulgaria, and the second largest on the Black Sea Coast after Varna and operates the largest commercial port in the country.

Whilst in Burgas itself the number of historical or architectural monuments to visit is limited, the surrounding area boasts some fascinating archaeological findsthat give visitors an insight into the civilisations here from over the millennia. The location of Burgas is another good reason to spend more time in the city. From here some of the best attractions of the region are within a 35 – 50 km radius, making it a great base from which to explore. Visit Bulgaria’s largest and liveliest seaside resort Sunny Beach, discover the ancient towns of Nessebar and Sozopol or relax in the spa town of Pomorie.

July is the hottest month in Burgas with an average temperature of 23°C (73°F) and the coldest is January at 3°C (37°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 12 in August. The wettest month is November with an average of 56mm of rain. The best month to swim in the sea is in July when the average sea temperature is 24°C (75°F).

South of Sunny Beach, Burgas is a pretty port city where shops, bars and Bulgarian tradition are all celebrated. Visit Sea Garden, the central public park with its patchwork of ornamental lawns, cycle paths and flower beds - the perfect place to get some shade.

Bugas is located near to Bulgaria’s Black Sea Coast famed for its golden beaches. The main beaches are pretty bustling and centre around good times, which means beach bars, water sports and seaside attractions readily available.

Try traditional food such as Banitsa, a traditional Bulgarian pastry made by layering a combination of beaten eggs and cheese between filo pastry or Tarator, a cold soup - a Bulgarian favourite especially for the summer months.

Over the summer, there are also events which take place including The International Regatta Port Burgas.
